About

Jennifer Pope, DNP, MSN, NP-C,

Nurse Practitioner

Jennifer Pope, DNP, MSN, NP-C, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, specializing in adolescent and adults. She began her career in health care in 1992 at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where she worked as a unit clerk.  Since that time, she’s logged over 22 years of experience in patient care (medical-surgical nurse, critical care nurse, nurse practitioner, and nurse faculty). Jennifer proudly served in two of the Uniformed Services; the U.S. Army and the U.S. Public Health Service, retiring at the rank of commander in 2016. She enjoyed caring for service members, family members and retirees.  The service was a great place to obtain a diverse level of experience, which makes her a  well-rounded family practice provider.

In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Jennifer also has an excellent academic background that includes a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN), a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Coppin State University, Baltimore, Maryland.

Health disparities and secondary conditions can be the result of inaccessible health care facilities, unfavorable healthcare provider office hours, transportation difficulties and higher poverty rates among people with disabilities (CDC, 2021). While the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) of 2010, increased the number of individuals who are insured, physically accessing a healthcare provider remains challenging for certain groups.

For many years, Jennifer experienced these challenges as she navigated the healthcare system with her own son who has special healthcare needs.  Wanting to improve health outcomes for this special population and others who want to remain in their own homes despite medical, cognitive, or functional challenges, Jennifer established Right Choice Health Care, LLC., a nurse practitioner-owned practice that takes healthcare to the individual.  While the practice is located in Anne Arundel County, she will see patients in the surrounding counties.
